TEDxFountainHills welcomes Doug Stevenson to the 2017 Speaker Lineup.
TEDxFountainHills Talk: Don’t Just Tell a Story -Tell the Right Story
Doug Stevenson is the CEO of Story Theater International, a Tucson, Arizona based speaking, training and consulting firm. He is the creator of The Story Theater Method and a master storyteller and storytelling in business speaker, trainer and coach. Clients include Microsoft, Google and Caterpillar. He has also authored the book, Doug Stevenson’s Story Theater Method, and The Next Level Storytelling Video eLearning Series.
Doug’s story begins with his quest to be a movie star. He was a professional actor in Chicago, Hollywood and Denver for over 20 years, and acted on stage in everything from Snoopy to Shakespeare to GREASE. He also did small parts in movies and TV. In his first movie he was karate chopped by Chuck Norris and in his last he portrayed a “bad guy” on a Perry Mason Movie of the Week.
While Doug was waiting for his big break, he owned a very successful carpentry and remodeling business, just like Harrison Ford. When it became painfully obvious that his big break might not never materialize, Doug made the decision to leave Hollywood in search of a brighter and happier future.
In 1985 Doug landed in Colorado Springs. He traded in his carpentry belt for a real estate license with his own brokerage, Sherlock’s Homes. When he realized that people got paid to speak, he transitioned into a professional speaking career that has now taken him all over the US and to 16 other countries on 4 continents. His story has a very happy ending.
